A forest is an area with a high density of trees. These plant communities cover approximately 9.4% of the Earth`s surface (or 30% of total land area) and function as habits for organisms, and soil conservers, constituting one of the most important aspects of the Earth`s biosphere.
Forests are the most diverse ecosystems on land because they hold the vast majority of the world`s terrestrial species. Some rain forests are among the oldest ecosystems on Earth. But only a fraction of known species has been examined for potential medicinal, agricultural or industrial value.
Un bosque es una area con una alta densidad de arboles. Estas comunidades de plantas cubren aproximadamente el 9.4% de la superficie de la Tierra (o el 30% del total terrestre) y funciona como hábitat para los organismos, y conservadores del suelo, constituyendo uno de los aspectos más importantes de la biosfera terrestre. Los bosques son los ecosistemas más diversos sobre tierra porque guardan la gran mayoría de las especies del mundo terrestre. Algunas selvas están entre los más antuguos ecosistemas de la Tierra. Pero sólo una fracción de especies conocidas han sido examinadas por su potencial valor medicinal, agrícola o industrial.
